Step 1 of 4: Preparing your submission of books

Please do not send us scans of potential submissions; an in-person screening is necessary. It is best to simply send your books to CCS directly using the online submission form. There is no need to contact us first.

If you are submitting a book for restoration removal, our screening service is required to first evaluate the book.

How to Submit

Any items considered for restoration must be submitted for screening in order for CCS to determine the service fee. CCS will contact you within five business days with our evaluation.

Each comic submitted to us should be stored in its own bag and board. Comics submitted without backing boards risk damage from either shipping or handling. Putting multiple comics in a bag or taping the bags will result in a slower turnaround time.

Step 2 of 4: Create a work order online for your submission

When you’re ready to submit your comics, please sign in and create a new work order. Creating your account profile and your work order is easy. For existing clients, your profile will already be in our system, so all you need is your e-mail and password to gain access. If you’re forgotten your password, a temporary one can be e-mailed to you.

There are two ways to create a work order. You can either enter each book one by one in the work order you create in our database, or you can use our spreadsheet upload function (helpful for a large order of books). The link to the spreadsheet you must download is on the main page once you sign in.

Enter each book one by one by adding an item to a work order. For each book, you must enter the title and issue, its fair market value, the CGC grade (if certified), the service you choose, and the CGC tier (if applicable). Once you create a work order, you have 24 hours to make any changes before the system will lock it. All of your work orders are saved in your archive, which can be viewed at any time by logging into your account.

Step 3 of 4: Pack and ship your submission to us

When you’re finished, print your work order and mail a copy with your books to the address we provide.

Make sure to pack your comics very carefully to avoid damage in the mail. We suggest wrapping the comics in paper or a plastic bag, and then placing them between pieces of thick cardboard. Place this in a sturdy box and pack paper, bubble wrap, or peanuts all around it. Shake the box afterwards to determine if there is any movement of the pack inside the box. If so, open it and stuff in more paper.

USPS Registered Mail is very secure offers $25,000 insurance per package. FedEx is a quick alternative, but they do not offer insurance so this must be acquired separately. If using Registered Mail, the post office requires that the package be sealed with brown tape.

Step 4 of 4: Screening, invoicing, and completion

As soon as we receive your package, all books will be checked against your work order, and you’ll receive an e-mail confirmation from us that your order have arrived complete. Screening, if applicable, has an estimated turnaround of 3-5 business days, depending on our workload, the size of your submission, and our show/holiday schedule. The exPress Screening service is typically 1-2 business days.

After we receive your submission, an invoice will be generated and emailed to you. In our online submission tracking, the work order’s status will change to “in progress”. All orders are to be paid upon receipt of the invoice. We accept checks, money orders, Visa, MasterCard and American Express. We no longer accept payments by PayPal. All payments are to be made to “Classic Collectible Services.”

If your comics are transferred to CGC for grading, CGC will bill you for all applicable grading, handling and shipping fees. If your books are not submitted to CGC, CCS will list any shipping fees on its invoice.

Once your comics are finished at CCS, they will either ship back to you or directly to CGC if you have chosen to have them graded. The work order status will be marked “shipped” and a copy of your invoice will be e-mailed to you that day. Please note that CCS is only able to offer insurance ($25,000 maximum per package) for USPS Registered Mail.

For comics going directly to CGC, the CGC invoice number(s) will be recorded at the bottom of your CCS invoice for reference. Once CGC finishes grading your comics, they will be shipped back to you by CGC.
